Philippians 2:4-11
Key verse: - "Let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interest of others." (Phil 2:4)
This story is about two friends of the same faith. Kate and Catherine; they lived a wonderful life together enjoying the goodness of friendship. Kate was well off with the word of God while on the other hand Catherine`s faith was doubtful. It was many times they discussed about God but Catherine was not so strong in her Christian faith. They didn't know what life had in store for them -Until one day their life took a volatile turn. As going on a ride on a hill, they met with an accident and were rushed to the hospital, but due to some problem only one could be treated at a time. The doctors were worried about the lives of both young girls. As they were keen to finalize their decision Kate opened her eyes through the pain and gaining the potential to speak, in a faint whisper said, "take care of my friend first. Please, she needs you more than I do. I am ready to die but she isn't!"She knew that her friend was yet to experience the love of Christ, who died so that we may have life and have it in abundance {John 10:10}
The doctors had no choice but to compel to her wish, so they took Catherine inside the O.T.
While in her death bed she gave a new testament to be given to Catherine declaring it her last wish.
. As time passed it took time for Catherine to come back from her trauma and distress that her friend had given her life so that she may gain happiness and joy in her life. She felt the love of the lord flowing through the life-giving attitude of her friend. We should also be the same, living our lives for others and not satisfying our own selfish being. We also should lay down our lives for others just as Christ and Kate in the story did.
Challenge: Are we as children of God tend to live a life for the sake of others interests?
Let's do it without grips and be assured of our eternal upshot being with Christ.
Prayer: Lord help me to live my life for others and show your love to others giving them also the joy and happiness of eternal life found in you. Amen.
